Biografie | The Pocoata community is one of the venues of the Tinku -meaning encounter in Quechua language-, it is an ancient pre-Hispanic ceremony that is celebrated from May 3 to 6 of each year. Communities neighboring Pocoata, meet, dance and fight, according to tradition, the defeated combatant must shed his blood as a sacrifice or offering to the Pachamama so that the harvest is abundant. The use of weapons is prohibited. It is a hand-to-hand combat. The ceremony coincides with the feast of the Lord of the Cross of Catholic origin. This community has variations in the music, dress and ritual of the tinku. |
