|Thok Koang Thor|
|Biografie||Thok is a refugee from South Sudan who first had access to digital media through NGO programs in Kakuma refugee camp, Kenya. In school he was actively involved with the drama club and developed skills as a script writer on both fact and fiction- based storytelling.|
He has always enjoyed drawing, painting, and making. In 2012 he began taking part in My Start projects workshops. He continued to take courses eventually becoming a teaching assistant and finally earned his way onto their film making course in collaboration with Film Aid where he completed a certificate in Kakuma refugee camp.
This was his stepping stone to studying a diploma at Africa Digital Media Institute (ADMI) in Nairobi and he was successfully awarded a scholarship for this through My Start Projects and Windle International. On college holidays he would return to Kakuma and help in creating content for Windle International Kenya. The content he created helped in showcasing the impact Windle International Kenya has on the educational sector in Kakuma refugee camp. This not only created awareness and marketing campaigns but also boosted the number of donations and eventually more students from Kakuma refugee camp got scholarships to pursue higher education.
After finishing his diploma, he began working as an intern at What's Good Studios Kenya, a media production company in Nairobi and this led to eventually working with them full time. He garnered extensive experience across different roles while specialising in the camera department. As a forward-thinking creator, Thok continually experiments with new technology, cameras, and editing software to achieve superior production outcomes.
